How We Work

Diversity & Inclusion

We appreciate different perspectives and work hard to create an inclusive work environment where our associates can deliver better and more innovative solutions to our customers.

We believe that an inclusive environment is an environment that is ripe for innovation because inclusion creates a space for associates to bring their best selves—and ultimately their best ideas—to work. That’s why we work hard to attract and develop associates who value differences and look to contribute their diversity of thought, work style and background to advance our culture. We are an equal opportunity employer and make employment decisions based on skill, experience and career aspiration.

To ensure they are equipped, all our leaders participate in annual diversity training that addresses real issues facing employers today.

Working alongside our Chief Diversity Officer is Beckman Coulter’s Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Council. Together, they are leading the organization on this journey to a more inclusive work environment. The D&I Council is made up of leaders representing a variety of backgrounds, cultures, regions and perspectives. With CEO sponsorship and support, the D&I Council’s areas of focus include:

  • Diversity goals and objectives
  • Best practice benchmarking
  • Associate engagement
  • Inclusion practices within our work environment
  • Visibility to diverse customer markets
  • Diversity practices, including talent recruiting, talent and organizational review, development planning and training, engagement and communications

Parental Leave

Parental leave varies, depending upon the laws of the countries where our associates are based.

In the United States, we provide eight weeks of 100% paid leave within the first year of a child’s birth, adoption or foster care placement. This leave can be taken all at once or used in one-week increments (within a 12-month rolling calendar).

Our Way of Working

The Danaher Business System

The Danaher Business System (DBS) is the engine driving our success. DBS keeps us ahead of the competition, makes us better problem solvers and creates world-class leaders. It's a set of tools that enables continuous improvement around Lean, growth and leadership. It powers transformational thinking, allowing you to examine a problem down to its root cause while discovering better ways to do business.

The purposeful nature of DBS at Danaher means continuous improvement of our work. It also means every team member can become adept at solving complex business challenges.

Our Leadership Anchors

All associates, regardless of level, have leadership potential. In fact, it's one of our criteria for hiring and a big part of how we develop our associates.

We share a set of Leadership Anchors with our parent company, Danaher, to cultivate leadership behavior and create a transparent, common definition of "what good looks like.” Our Leadership Anchors are:

  • Charts the Course
  • Drives Innovation and Growth
  • Leads through DBS
  • Builds People, Teams and Organizations
  • Acts with Integrity

Whether you're a manager or an individual contributor, our Leadership Anchors help enhance the behaviors that will deliver success throughout your career and define your potential.

Our Core Values

Our Core Values shape the company and unite our associates. We create measurable success without ever compromising our integrity or losing sight of the larger goal: listening to our customers.

Our associates are known for conducting business honestly and fairly, always with these five Core Values in mind:

  • The Best Team Wins: Exceptional people thrive in our fast-paced, results-oriented work environment
  • Innovation Defines Our Future: We are empowered and encouraged to challenge ourselves and each other, and to take balanced risks to advance innovation
  • Customers Speak, We Listen: Our customer-centric focus drives us to create innovative solutions that directly address customer needs
  • Continuous Improvement Is Our Way of Life: We set the standard of excellence high and constantly strive to do better
  • We Compete for Shareholders: We have built a track record of financial success that enables us to continually reinvest in our business and our people

Volunteer Time Off

We know it’s sometimes difficult to find time to give back during a busy work week. Through our Volunteer Time Off program, associates receive 24 paid hours to spend time with the qualified nonprofit organization of their choice. Follow us on LinkedIn and find out how we support the communities we live and work in by reading our posts from around the world.
